If one truly remembers that all they have is a gift from God, envy has no choice but to fade away. We must always remember God as the source of all good gifts.
Thank you PJ! My dad used to make us sing the prayer of David in Psalm 139:23-24 and tbh, it has become one of the most painful yet liberating parts of my prayer. Because God will always surgically show us the things we don't see or don't want to admit. And he's eager to help us out of whatever we discover.

Love the Peter and John analogy because I think I have found myself in that loophole although in a different way, as I question why consecrations are different. It is sufficient to say that "it is not my concern, I should follow God".

I remember a few years into my career, I caught myself feeling jealous of a friend in the same industry because of how recognised she was and how well she was doing. The thing about envy is that you may not even realize you’re struggling with it until you see something you deeply desire, happening for someone else.
One thing this article reminded me of is that envy makes you see other people’s blessings as proof that you are missing out.
“God is not working with a limited supply. His generosity to someone else does not mean there is less left for me.” What a word!
"My friend, you cannot enjoy a life you are always resisting. Receive yours. It comes from our Father whose goodness can never run dry."
This line. My goodness. May we always remember this. Not only does envy rob us of our peace and goodwill towards others, it steals our present from us. So you're constantly hoping and wishing for a someone else's life while you're wasting away in yours
I love this part ... 'Envy will thrive when identity has to be earned'. If I don't know who I am, I will constantly compare my story/ journey to someone else's.
But when I truly know who I am in God, and I understand that my journey is uniquely designed for me, gratitude naturally replaces envy. I can celebrate others without feeling threatened because I know God is writing a different story with my life.
